FAQs

Do you outsource your play dough?

Nope! All our base materials are small batch, handmade/dried/dyed, and packaged by us in the United States.

What is your dough made from?

Ingredients for dough include (but not limited to):

  • flour
  • cream of tartar
  • vegetable oil
  • salt
  • food coloring/natural dyes
  • essential oils or natural spices for scent

What is used to color your dried beans/rice/pasta?

We use vinegar and US made food coloring to color our bases, which keep them nontoxic for our little ones' skin and any accidental run-ins with a curious sense of taste. But although our bases are nontoxic, they are NOT INTENDED for consumption of any kind.

Colors from our base materials, may bleed if wet. Lightly washing and/or wiping down any surfaces that may come in contact with color bleeding, should clear any unwanted color.

How long are base materials good for?

Our base materials are all handmade with food-grade ingredients, therefore don't last forever. If kept in airtight containers, they can last anywhere from 3-6 months.

Keep dried beans/pasta/rice away from liquids or humidity.

Always store dried beans/pasta/rice separately from play dough, to maintain the quality of the dry materials.

If play dough begins to dry and/or show visible salt crystals, wet hands and knead the dough. Within a few minutes, the dough should be back to its soft squishy self.

Have children wash hands before beginning to play, to better conserve base material from oils, crumbs, or just "sticky stuff".

Colors from our base materials, or color-washed peg people, may bleed if wet. Lightly washing and/or wiping down any surfaces that may come in contact with color bleeding, should clear any unwanted coloring.

Do you create custom orders or party favors?

We offer custom themed bulk orders, like party favors. We also offer themed event or party sized sensory play bins.
At this time, we do not create and sell individual custom play kits.

What ages are your kits made for?

For safety reasons, we suggest starting our products with children over the age of 3. But as with all activities, caregivers should monitor children and be aware of the ability their little ones have to understand safety and proper use of materials.

Besides the safety precautions, we feel our kits can be enjoyable and beneficial for older toddlers to children over the age of 101!
